Better Call Saul's journey from stupid breaking bed spin-off to plunging

into the dark side of the American dream has been the most exciting on television.

 And in its final season, as it finally prepares to capture the events of Breaking Bed

the story of the moral revelation of lawyer Saul Goodman, aka Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), has reached a truly depressing place.

Even a shocking, and in the first installment of the second half of the final season

the spirit of watching the slow-moving disaster remains terribly provocative. 

That’s because the show has given itself so much to live on.

The first batch of episodes (as is the current fashion, the series is split in two)

featured a bloody explosion that dripped down the screen like ketchup on a Norman Rockwell painting (spoilers to follow).
